CLIMATE ACTION
Climate science on its own does not create change. Turning it into action takes new ways of teaching, new communities, and new leadership skills. This page brings together the different ways I work on that: developing courses and learning experiences, building community among geoscientists, training leaders, and speaking publicly about climate change and what we can do about it.
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Co-developed and taught FSCI198 The Climate Crisis and Climate actions, an interdisciplinary, whole-person introduction to the climate crisis and individual and collective actions to address it.

- Co-organizer and lecturer for Advanced Climate Dynamics Course (ACDC) Summer Schools, an international summer school for advanced graduate students held annually in different, remote locations on different topics in climate science.
Community
I founded the group Geoscientists for Climate Action, a community of practice bringing together students, postdocs, faculty, and staff at McGill whose work connects to climate change and the sustainability of our planet. We share a common experience: understanding the Earth system and staying silent about what's happening to it started to feel like a contradiction. We meet regularly to build community, develop science communication skills, and take concrete steps toward hopeful climate action on campus, in Montreal and beyond. Leadership Development
Climate Praxis is a leadership program for mid-career Earth systems scientists, built on the premise that the gap between scientific knowledge and meaningful action is no longer primarily a knowledge problem — it is a human infrastructure problem. Through coaching, peer community, and repeated embodied practice, participants develop the vision, courage, and relational capacity the work now requires.

Leadership Development Series for Earth Systems Scientists
Earth systems science is no longer just about generating knowledge. Today's scientists are increasingly called upon to lead interdisciplinary teams, navigate complex stakeholder relationships, communicate across boundaries, secure resources, and help shape responses to some of society's most pressing challenges.
Join a community of accomplished Earth systems scientists for a series of interactive leadership workshops hosted by Climate Praxis and supported by the National Science Foundation.
Designed for early- and mid-career scientists with a PhD, this workshop series explores the leadership skills that can amplify scientific impact—both within and beyond academia. The series builds on insights from an 18-month NSF-sponsored professional development program that brought together leading scientists from institutions across North America.
The tools and frameworks featured in these workshops were selected because participants found them immediately useful in their own work—whether leading research groups, managing collaborations, mentoring students, navigating institutional challenges, or advancing ambitious scientific initiatives.
This is not a lecture series. Expect engaging discussions, practical exercises, and opportunities to connect with peers who are grappling with many of the same leadership challenges and opportunities.
